We are back — and I’m happy to be here. It’s been almost two months since I’ve sent out a Sunday Newsletter. I haven’t gone that long without sending one and I apologize about that. I know I don’t have to, but I love doing these… and I know a lot of you look forward to them. Especially my mom, lol. And I know she’s smiling reading this right now! So let’s get back into it, shall we? --- ## The Sunday Brew ☕ #### Competing with AI as a Creative + Preparing for a Quieter Summer… I’ve clearly been burned out from life, which is why I haven’t posted much recently. I’m slowly getting back into my groove as a writer, but I’m not gonna lie — it hasn’t been easy. Being a creative right now is tough. Trying to grab constant inspiration for content be it as a writer, content creator, etc isn’t easy. Especially when you’re competing with AI. It’s not just us writers that are competing, but video creators are, too. Any time I scroll social media I’m asking myself what’s real and what isn’t. I’ve seen some AI videos lately that looked so real that I had to take a double look. It’s kinda crazy. My mom told me that she’d been listening to an artist on Spotify that she was enjoying. She decided to look this person up and found out that they don’t even exist. So even musicians are competing. It’s exhausting. And it discourages me sometimes. I’m a very sensitive person and I’m not too keen on change. I have a love-hate relationship with it — and while I know change is good — this kind of change worries me. How far are we going to go into technological advancement? How many people are going to lose their jobs? How many people are going to be competing with AI more and more as the years go on? Even if you’re someone who likes and benefits from using AI, are you not worried about how far down the line of destruction that we’re heading? I mean… I’m just saying. The video game “Detroit” is also a good example, too. My husband is a game head, and I was watching him play this game some years back. Yeah, it looks cool. Rich people are drooling at the thought of being able to make a one time payment of having an Android around their house doing their chores and taking care of things and not having to hire an actual human to do it. That’s until it gains consciousness and destroys them. Hey! I’m just the messenger!!! Anyway… it sounds dramatic now, but it’s not far off. You don’t think within the next 10 years these things wont advance? Anything is possible. And if you believe in God, you know that. All that to say, I’m scared of all of it. Knowing that my kids will never know a word without all of this shit saddens my heart. And knowing that us creatives are competing with Artificial Intelligence saddens me even more. The world is so heavy right now, AI aside, there’s so many other things that are happening around us that are weighing on our mental health. Everyday I’m seeing someone say how overwhelmed they are with life — and they aren’t alone. So with all of that weight, I am definitely preparing for a quieter summer. Quiet as in touching more grass than I’ve ever touched. Reading, researching, going out in my community and talking to real people. Allowing myself to interact with tangible things more than I interact with anything technology related. I’ve already been doing it… staying offline a little bit more. Reading more than I’ve been watching TV. I can’t remember the last time I watched a show in full. I’m just exhausted with screens to be completely honest. And usually when I am watching something, it’s a history documentary or something informative to stimulate my brain. My mom and I just picked up a new book for our book club and I’m excited to get into that this summer. I just want to eliminate the noise of the world and find some peace. I am so thankful for the city that I live in. We have several libraries within our area. Coffee shops, mom and pop shops, etc. My community is not too far into the modern world and I love that. We have some balance. Louisiana is a bit behind in a lot of things, but maybe that’s the beauty in it. I don’t want to advance further into the modern age, I just want to be. --- ## *Curious Minds 🧠* *So did you know that the Watermelon is technically a vegetable? Yeah. It’s a part of the Cucurbitaceae family which is home to squash, cucumbers, and pumpkins. But it’s also a fruit because of the seeds. So in all actuality it’s both.
