Your Reminder to Slow Down For the Fall and Winter Months + Get Back into Your Hobbies

First thing's first – yes – this is a new blogging platform that I'm trying out and I hope it looks good in your email! I needed to get back to having my own website and quieting the noise of a social media account tied to my blog posts... so here we are.

Anyway! Happy Sunday, friends. I know it's late but who's watching the clock? Not me, lol.

Side note: this image has zero to do with today's blog, but it was cute so whatever.

I hope your week was beautiful and I hope you spent today resting, having fun with your hobbies, cooking, or whatever it is that brings you joy. I've been working on this site all day and I'm glad I finally just have a blog home and nothing else. That's all I wanted.

So as many of you probably already know, I started an herb garden on my balcony. At first, I didn't know if I wanted to do that because I was worried I wouldn't be able to give them the proper care on an apartment balcony. But I was wrong. They absolutely love it here. I talk to them every morning and night, lol. And honestly? Since I started my garden and have been tending to it, researching different herbs and their spiritual and healing properties, the cloud that used to sit on my head? It kind of moved out the way a little bit.

I won't say my depression is cured, but I will say that having more hobbies has been helping me feel better. And connecting with nature and having more green around me has been helping boost my mood. Getting back into journaling, reading, writing, drawing, sitting in the sun and allowing it to warm my body, drinking hot tea at night before bed, creating morning and evening rituals that are mine and no one elses. All of these little things and hobbies have helped boost my mood and the way I take on the day.

I know it sounds so simple – and maybe you've heard me say them before. But I'm bringing this up again because sometimes we need the reminder. Sometimes we need to be reminded to stop and say, hey – when was the last time I participated in my hobbies? When was the last time I sat down to read a book for fun? When was the last time I went out and took myself to lunch and ate alone while being in the moment? (That reminds me, I haven't had my solo lunch and margarita date in a few weeks so I need to schedule that this week!)

We HAVE to slow down. Pull the reins back a little bit especially around this time of year. Now I know you work full time. I know you have responsibilities. I know the holidays are coming up and you're already stressing about what you're going to buy for everyone. I know you have bills and kids. I know you are on go all the time. But the fall and winter seasons – as beautiful as they are – come with some downfalls. One being seasonal depression... another being running yourself into the ground trying to keep up with holiday parties, plans, traveling, and your inability to tell someone, "No thanks, I'm not interested in doing that." Mhmm, I'm talking to you!

So in your state of being in constant go this holiday season, remember to slow down. Remember to set time aside for you and your hobbies. I have three children and do I sacrifice an hour or two of sleep sometimes to do my rituals or hobbies in peace? I absolutely do. That's just the way it is when you have a house full and that is okay!

Remember to check in with yourself if not daily, every other day or at the very least weekly. If you do have seasonal depression of if you find yourself always on go and doing things for others around this time of year, remember to be kind to yourself and do not run yourself into the ground because of other people or things. What do I always say? FUCK THEM PEOPLE! lmaoooo.

Goodnight. Love ya. <3
