Let Me See What You Workin' Wit!
A Poem for your Tuesday...
You ever want to see someone’s insides?
No, not like that.
I mean really… see them. The underneath. The soul that they try to hide. The spark that they try to dim. You ever want to undress someone lyrically? Speak to them in a way that makes them take those layers off and show you what they’re really working with?
And I’m not talking about what sits between their knees.
You know what I mean?
Let me… let me see if I can explain it. Alexa, cue the Jazz music.
Mosaic Soul
Let me love you… not just when we’re intertwined between the sheets no… let me see beneath.
Let me see that very thing you try to hide and put to the side
Look me in my eyes and let your soul shine
Let it blind me until all i see are the colors within your body that make your soul so unique
The mosaic art of beauty, pain, and generational weight that was placed upon your plate forcing you to harden and become a person that was built brick by brick by a world that never intended to love you whole
By a world that tried to break you, beat you down until the soles of your feet could no longer bear the pressure of the internal defeat that brought you down to your knees.
Now let me see the soul you were born with.
The one where you’re allowed to dream and be seen
The one where you’re allowed to weep and not be considered weak
The one where you stand firm on your worth and fuck anybody who tries to spit on your name and drag it through the dirt — you’re a king.
You deserve to be seen.
And not just when we’re intertwined between the sheets.
So, let me… baby. Let me see beneath.
Snap, snap, and fucking snap! I did that.
Okay bye!
