Finding Yourself is a Lifelong Journey 🚶🏽‍♀️

The Sunday Chronicle📰✨

Rise and shine, family! (I’ve already risen — I’ve been up since 2 a.m.) I know — insane, right? It’s now 6 a.m., and I’m drafting today’s Sunday Newsletter. Made a few changes as you can see by the title. I’ve changed the name of my Sunday Newsletter a few times, but this one just fits. It’s so me, and I’m keeping it.

Anywayssss. How are you? How are you feeling? I’ll tell you, I’m feeling pretty great right now, given I haven’t had much sleep. Everyone kinda just dropped where they were after dinner last night — quesadillas will do that to you. My daughter woke me up at 2 when she came crashing into my bed while trying to find a warm place to position her feet — she chose underneath my legs. -_-

I haven’t been back to sleep since. Then my husband woke up around 3 a.m. and decided we should have coffee out on the balcony together while the kids were sleeping. I will never deny coffee, first of all. And coffee with him? I’ll do that at any time of day — wherever, however. We talked and connected for a few hours. It was perfect. I’m in the best mood on this Sunday morning.

Now, pull up that chair and grab your coffee so we can chat. <3

💻 The Sunday Essay

Finding Yourself is a Lifelong Journey

“Finding yourself” isn’t something you check off once and move on from — it’s something that happens again and again throughout your life. What you find in one season may not be who you are in the next. Who I am right now isn’t who I was last year, and it’s definitely not who I was five or ten years ago.

Self-discovery isn’t about arriving at a permanent answer at all. It’s about learning who you are in this moment — your passions, your desires, the kind of person you’re trying to be. Then, when life shifts (as it always does), you may end up beginning that process again.

I think that’s why the question “Who are you?” can shake people up so much. We start looking through every version of ourselves we’ve ever known, searching for the one that sounds the most worthy, the most understandable. Because deep down, we all want to be understood. Sometimes though, we don’t even know who we are yet — and that can feel like failure. But it isn’t.

The truth is: we’re constantly changing. Evolving. Shedding old layers like snake skin and picking up new ones. Maybe last year you thought you had yourself figured out, but now you find yourself hesitating, stuck, because that version of you doesn’t quite fit anymore. That’s not confusion — that’s growth. I have been there, over and over again — trust me, my friend.

People’s values change. Their lifestyles shift. Their definitions of happiness expand. That’s the nature of being alive. You won’t always know the answer to “Who am I?” — and you won’t always have it together. That’s not weakness. That’s the beauty of becoming. & yes, people might notice your changes. They might even say it in that unimpressed way: “You’ve changed.” As if change is something to be ashamed of. But the truth is, the shifts you’ve made were probably necessary for your survival, your healing, your growth. Change makes people uncomfortable, but that doesn’t make it wrong. This is your life. You’re allowed as many journeys of self-discovery as you need.

So if you’re in a season where you feel uncertain, lost, or unfinished — take a breath. Puhleaseeee take a breath. Strap in for another round of discovery, friend. Who you are today is worthy, even if it doesn’t match yesterday’s version or last year’s version. And when the dots don’t connect the way you thought they would, you can always switch course.

Finding yourself isn’t about arriving at one final answer. It’s about allowing yourself to keep searching, keep shifting, keep becoming. & that — in all its mess and beauty — is what makes this life worth living.

With all my love,

Marie <3

☕ The Sunday Sip

This week’s sip: Candlelit Chores

Lately? I’ve been into turning mundane tasks around the house into little rituals. Romanticizing my “boring” and slow life, if you will. It helps, trust me. Earlier this week I did dishes super early in the morning with low light and a candle lit — and would you believe it? I actually enjoyed doing the dishes that day. It will now be a part of my routine. So, this week, I challenge you to do one small task (dishes, folding clothes) by a candlelight. It makes the mundane feel sacred and peaceful. You might actually start looking forward to doing it. :)

📝 The Margin Notes

Jot these notes down in your planner for the week!

  • Yes, I’ve changed — it’s called growth, bi*ch! (That was a lil fiesty — sorry not sorry.)
  • Not everyone needs a front-row seat to your becoming.
  • Detours are just divine shortcuts!!!

Fall Curriculum 🌱
Apparently there is a trend going around about building a personal curriculum and I am here for it. The funny thing about this is — I had no idea this was an actual trend until today. It’s going around on the clock app and I was completely unaware since I am not on social media other than Substack. I just decided last month that I wanted to start learni…
